The Chess Store Australia is proud to introduce our Exclusive Factory Seconds* Royal Knights Of Camelot Staunton Chess set hand crafted from fine premium grade Rosewood and Ivory Boxwood by master craftsmen. Rosewood has become one of the more popular woods used for Luxury chess sets because of its rich brown colours along with it's glossy lustre, which is achieved through the hand polishing process. Every piece has its own individual characteristic of colour and beautiful wood grains.
This Chess set features a very unique Royal Knight design, where each knight piece is intricately hand-carved for over two days by a master craftsman. It features a magnificent life-like knight, with its downturned head, braided flowing mane and aggressive facial expression. Take a look at the way the forelock has been carved, in many horse breeds the forelock is shaven, but here it is shown in its true glory. This is one of our finer looking Knights ever to grace the 64 square battlefield.
The Chess set has the solid traditional Staunton look, but with accentuated masculine styling. Every piece has been designed to compliment the intricate and appealing Knight design, which rightly steals the show. The King measures 102mm (4") with a base diameter of 45mm (1.75") all the pieces are heavy weighted, the beautiful bevelled bases have luxury leather pad bases, and the set includes 2 Free Extra Queens.
* FACTORY SECONDS - The Chess Set arrived from the factory with a few minor flaws including 3 missing Boxwood & Rosewood pawns, and a small blemish on the chessboard. As a result we have had to very closely match the replacement Pawn Pieces, as can be seen in the listing photos, most Chess Players will not even notice the difference as it does not affect play. Consequently the Chess Set has been very heavily discounted for a Quick Clearance Sale.
Also included is our Grand Master Custom made Chess Board measuring 53cm (21") with 2.25” inch grid squares. The Chess Board Squares has a laminate screened Rosewood & Maple surface, in a semi-gloss finish. The Playing Surface has a hand crafted Moulded surround made from Premium Grade Ringy Rosewood (Acacia Rhodoxylon) with a semi-gloss finish, the base of the Chess Board is finished off with a Green Velvet Base Pad. The Chess Board is designed to provide a projected playing field, which is not normally available on other Chess Boards, and will certainly be a feature that will complement the Luxury Chess Pieces.
For safe storage of the Chess Pieces, we have also included a pure leather storage case with quality fastenings, it will provide protection for your chess pieces under normal use. The dual compartments are inlaid with billiard green felt lining and will accommodate all the 32 pieces. It has that great smell of leather and is of particularly high quality and finish.
